Without installing any additional software, connecting Huawei E220 device to Celcom broadband in Ubuntu 9.04 is very easy. Just follow the connection assistant and you will be good.

Edit Connections..

Add new Mobile Broadband

Assistant

Select service provider

Give a nice name to the connection

Edit the connection properties. APN celcom.net.my is auto by the assistant. I Just leave it like that and it works.

Choose your connection.

.. and you are connected.

Previously I’m using wvdial as suggested in this blog and it is also works. The problem is that, it is not in ubuntu default installation,you need to install it first before you can use it. Well, it’s not really a problem since you still can install it in offline mode. (here is the way how to do it)
