How to connect Huawei E220 Celcom Broadband in Ubuntu 9.04

Without installing any additional software, connecting Huawei E220 device to Celcom broadband in Ubuntu 9.04 is very easy. Just follow the connection assistant and you will be good. 😉

Edit Connections..

Add new Mobile Broadband

Select service provider

Give a nice name to the connection

Edit the connection properties. APN is auto by the assistant. I Just leave it like that and it works.

Choose your connection.

.. and you are connected.

Previously I’m using wvdial as suggested in this blog and it is also works. The problem is that, it is not in ubuntu default installation, you need to install it first before you can use it. Well, it’s not really a problem since you still can install it in offline mode. (here is the way how to do it)

Till then..Happy surfing !

Hello admin, thanks for the knowledge.

I found a problem with my case through.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS – the Lucid Lynx
    Kernel Linux 2.6.32-23-generic
    GNOME 2.30.2

I am using a compaq computer, Pentium Dual Core CPU. T4200

After plugging the celcom broadband into the USB, a icon automatically popped up at the desktop (but cannot be used)

I did following the steps above successfully except the final one.

Apparently when I click the connections the “MyCelcom” as I made in the second last step did not appear in the list.

    Any advice on this?
