GCompris is a collection of educational games that provides different activities for children aged 2 and up.

You can use add/remove features to install the application.

Alternatively you can run below command:

sudo apt-get install gcompris

or you can click here

This is how it look like.

My daughter love GCompris very much and so do I. I’m sure your kids will love it too. :)

Till then..adios.

Self Signed SSL – work around to get rid of certificate error message

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Previously I wrote about self signed SSL. The issue with self sign certificate is browser will display a warning stating that it may be an attempt to trick the user and that continuing is “not recommended”.

cert problem

firefox warning

For a testing purposes, I add my hosts file with additional information: ( this site not exist )

Interestingly Firefox in Window$ environment offers to accept the certificate first time as an option and works perfectly from then on.

Sharing Mozilla Thundebird Mail/News between Ubuntu and Win XP

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

If you are dual booter like me (Ubuntu & WinXP), there are a good news that you can read/store your email with your Thunderbird in a single location. On top of that, you can also share your RSS feed between both OS.

First you need to identify where you want store those data. In my case, I put it in my H drive which is in FAT32.

Then you need to know where your drive H mount point in Ubuntu. In this case, it is in /media/sda9

Ubuntu Hardy Heron FREE CD arrived

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I already upgrade my ubuntu to Hardy Heron last month. But then, I still order for FREE ubuntu CD throught ShipIT. I request for 5 CD’s :)

Yesterday I received it and already give the CD’s to my bos and my colleague. I still have 2 extra CD to keep it for myself. :)

If you have your home network configuration similar to me then you can straight away enjoy your internet connection using Live CD. No additional configuration required. But this only applicable if you are connected using RJ45 cable and not the wireless connection.

I think it would be much much helpful if ubuntu by default comes with wireless capabilities

Wow, we can add new program even we are using Live CD. :)

Have you got your ubuntu CD ?

Jom cuba ubuntu !
