ETL Tools : Datastage vs Infopump

I have been using this two tools for my ETL jobs. From my experience using datastage (2 month) and Infopump (6 years), i will say that datastage is much more complicated to use, compared to infopump. The good things about datastage is, there are a support forum (www.dsxchange.com) for datastage users but not for infopump users.

In terms of popularity, datastage is much much more popular than infopump.

But then, here is datastage popularity compared to informatica. Seems that, informatica is much more popular than datastage.

datastage informatica

Well, It just only a tools. There is always have a good things and also a bad things for each product. If i have a company and need to choose and ETL tools to use, of course… i will choose a free one. hehe..

Till then, adiosss…

    1. apa benda ETL tu aku tatau apa :D

    2. alar gerg, ETL tuh tools utk transfer data dari satu tempat ke satu tempat yg lain.
ETL = Extract (read from source), Transform (manipulate data) and Load (copy to another data source)
camtuh ler lebih kurang gerg. :)
nuaq apa citer ? lama tak dengar khabar.

    3. Ignore the Google Trends result for Informatica - this is a very common term in Spanish and Portuguese and these searches have nothing to do with the data integration vendor. If you look at the country and region breakdown in Google Trends you will see Spanish speaking countries search for this term more than any other region. The top 10 cities of origin for “Informatica” searches are in Brazil and Spain. English is the 6th language of origin for “Informatica” searches.

A more accurate search is DataStage versus PowerCenter. PowerCenter searches have become a lot more popular in the last twelve months since Informatica expanded to data quality and profiling products. People are starting to do PowerCenter searches for ETL tool information rather than Informatica searches.
