Duplicate postcode in Malaysia National Postcode System.

Hi guys,

I know something new today. Do you know that we have a duplicate data in malaysia postcode ? What i mean is that, there is one postcode tagged to two states in Malaysia.

I don’t know this until today when I do my extraction query to give a pool of data to user and I cannot get the data as per what I expected because of this thing. It take me hours to figure this out.grrrrr….

I did a search in Pos Malaysia website and guess what ?

I found out that, postcode 39000 is tagged to two states – Pahang and Perak. I don’t know if there is other case like this.

This data is taken from Pos Malaysia website using Location Finder :

postcode 1postcode 2

Well, that’s all I want to tell you guys today.

      Friend,

Eventhough the state is publish as Pahang and Perak, but they are located in the same area - Tanah Rata - Cameron Highlands.

Physically, they did not allocate the postcode to 2 states, but only to one unique location, Tanah Rata.

      Friend, thanks for comment.

yeah…i can see it is assign to one unique location. but still, my state statistic is not correct if i were to lookup using postcode for my customer database . the total number will be slightly differ.
